Pick something else when…

If a visitor is on the page specifically to read reviews, give them all of them — the spotlight shows one at a time and takes its own pace, which is the opposite of what somebody comparing options wants.

A page where a section of reviews would be a distraction, but a reminder that other people went through with it is not.

A hosted booking engine, a store template, anything you cannot put a widget into. The spotlight needs no space in the layout because it does not use any.
